The Clinical Study of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

Objective:To summarize clinical characteristics of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis(JRA) and analyze its diagnosis and experience in therapy.Methods:Between 2002-2008,90 patients with JRA were admitted to the Department of Pediatrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University.They were retrospectively analysized by the history, clinical symptoms,results of laboratory tests,diagnosis,therapy and other related indexes.A follow-up was taken in 26 patients and the patient's conditions,treatment were collected.Compared the information of the regular treatment group and the irregular treatment group.Results:1.The ratio of male to female was 13:5 and there were 13 cases in the patients under 3 years old,23 cases in the patients between 3 and 7 years old,54 cases in the patients over 7 years old,the minimum age was 9 months,maximum age was 14 years old.There were no significant differences among three groups.(p>0.05).In 90 cases,there were 14 cases with oligoarticular type,17 cases with polyarticular type and 59 cases with systemic type.There were no significant differences among different aged groups and different types(p>0.05).2.The Clinical manifestations wer varied,including systemic symptoms,joint symptoms,as well as extra-articular symptoms.3.The results of immune system tests showed abnormal.4.Among 26 patients followed up,there were 6 cases with regular treatment,20 cases with irregular treatment.In the group of irregular treatment there was still 3 cases with repeated fever,2 cases with joint deformity.Conclusion:1.JRA is a common chronic systemic autoimmune disease characterized by joint synovitis in the childhood.JRA can occur in each age group including infants,preschool young children and school-age children.In different age group pauciarticular type,polyarticular type and systemic type could be seen.2.The diagnosis of JRA mainly depended on the clinical features,especially the differntial diagnosis should be done.So far,it was not to make the diagnose of JRA just relied on the laboratory findings.3.Long-term combination therapy should be done for JRA, irregular treatment may affect the prognosis.
